Meet Dr. Yu-Chen Hsiao, your trusted local dentist in Hobsonville. Rooted in the community as a Massey High School graduate, Dr. Yu-Chen furthered their education at the one and only University of Otago Dental School in New Zealand, where she completed her degree in Bachelor of Dental Surgery. This blend of local understanding and top-tier dental training forms the foundation of their practice.

Dr. Yu-Chen is particularly skilled and interested in the field of cosmetic dentistry, offering advanced solutions like clear aligners, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, and cosmetic bonding to transform smiles and boost confidence. She is known for her attention to detail and gentle demeanour, and is dedicated to providing comprehensive and gentle care for every member of your family.

Dr. Yu-Chen is passionate about patient education and will take time to make sure every patient leaves the clinic well-informed and in good care. Originally from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, she is fluent in both English and Mandarin.

Dr. Jason Mandle studied dentistry in the U.K. and graduated in 2011. Prior to joining West Harbour Dental Clinic, he gained extensive experience working in the UK/Scotland and also lots of experience working around both the North and South Islands in New Zealand.

“What I like best about being a Dentist is getting to know my patients over time and building a trusting relationship with them. There is no better reward than going home knowing you have helped people, whether it’s making them more confident in their smile or treating a toothache.”

He believes in quality, cares for his patients, and that dentistry is not just about the treatment but the patient.
On his days off, he enjoys the beach and water activities in our lovely summer weather. He also loves badminton in winter times.

Dr. David Hong

Dentist

David was drawn to dentistry as it’s a highly technical and rewarding field, presenting a perfect blend of both science and artistic expression. For him, the most fulfilling aspect of being a dentist is relieving dental pain and reuniting people with the smiles they thought they had lost! Plus he enjoys the ability to use the skills he has developed and refined over his years in dentistry to create beautiful outcomes for his patients.

David earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2014 to prepare for his career. He takes various continuing education courses to stay abreast of the latest in dentistry. These include courses in implant surgery and surgical wisdom teeth extractions which are two of his particular professional passions.

When he’s not caring for patients’ smiles, David likes going to the gym, running and staying fit in general. He also enjoys spending time socialising with friends.
